¶ Adding Multiple ECM
If it has been decided to print with more than 8 colors, there are some more steps to do.
Firstly, these steps explain what to do while one ECM is connected already. If you haven't connected an ECM yet, please visit How to Set Up Extra 4 Color Printing Feature with ECM first.
Now let's get to work:
- Connect the extra ECM with a barrel jack splitter for powering.
- Connect the CX-I extruder cables
- Connect the extra ECM to your printer via USB cable
If you have a printer with single USB socket, you will need to use a USB hub to connect your ECM'S to your printer.
- Add 5 in 1 to the 8 in 1 to expand the ptfe tubes.(This step is not necessary if only one ECM is connected.)
- Go to "MACHINE" in Mainsail. Open "ecm_2.cfg". Click on "DEVICES" Determine the serial path of your second ECM. Paste the path to the serial section in [mcu ecm_2].
Please do not forget to click on "SAVE & RESTART" after pasting.
This step is applies to all newly added ECM's.
- Configuration of the ECM paths.
- Changing the filament change macro. (This step is not necessary if only one ECM is connected.)
The steps above will be same for adding more ECM’s
